The intention for this project was to design an ideal nursery and adjoining room for an older brother. Research has shown that infants can only see grayscale, so the daughter’s space includes strong monochrome patterns in order to provide maximum visual stimulation. The boy, four years of age, also enjoys walls with monochrome colours, but they incorporate more complex patterns and details. Colour is added through toys, artwork and books. Each room is spacious, allowing the children to comfortably grow within their own space. A combination of modular shelving, bookcases and dressers provides plenty of storage, helping mom stay organised. Playful details like the balloon pendant and a giant Miffy floor lamp make the spaces fun.
